On the 12th January 1928, the roots of Duff and Macintosh Pty
Ltd was formed. Originally named Crossle, Scott & Duff
Brothers Limited, the company changed its name to Duff and
Macintosh Pty Ltd when Donald Urquart Macintosh joined the
company in the 1930’s.
Donald Macintosh was William Vere
Hobart (Bill) Duff’s,
brother in law.
Though Duff and Macintosh was officially handed
to Mr. Paul Orban in 1976, Mr. Macintosh continued to work
with the company
and made regular appearances for a further 15 years.
Today,
as in 1928, the company diligently maintains its reputation
in the process instrumentation market, by supplying
reliable equipment from reliable suppliers.
In the last few
years, Duff and Macintosh Pty Ltd embraced new suppliers
in the field of training and demonstration
apparatus for tertiary education institutions. Duff and Macintosh
have also successfully moved into the import and distribution
of sensors and transmitters for the OEM market in Australia
and New Zealand.
Our web-site is here to present the enormous
range of equipment we have. Our suppliers vary in size and
scope, and may manufacture
anything between a single product and several thousand products.
Nearly all our products are on our web-site, or linked through
ours, to our suppliers’.
Our range is diverse – a
heritage from the age of our company and our efforts to succeed
in other areas of
business. Our oldest relationship to a supplier is nearly
60 years, with our oldest customer relationships exceeding
70 years!
We import nearly all our products via airfreight,
as fast delivery is of prime importance to us and our customers.
These days we and our customers are spoilt by short lead
times due to the adoption of more air freight. With fast
air freight forwarders and door to door services, shipments
arrive in days or weeks, instead of months.
Our customers
include: All major Universities, government departments,
major industrials such as BHP, ACI, Pilkington,
CSR, BOC, MIM, etc. The Defence force and the major Power
and Utility suppliers are also large customers of ours.
We
strive to make our customers happy. Quality and service are
of utmost importance to Duff and Macintosh Pty Ltd, as
only satisfied customers will return.
Our internal sales records
are second to none. All of them can be traced back to their
date of origin, right back to
January 1928. Though this may seem amazing, it has helped
us in our efforts to trace specific information for our customers
back to the 1960’s and even back to the 1930’s.
